Automated Software Testing 101 –  Introduction to Automated Software Testing Accelerated 40 hours (Week 1 of the 10 day boot-camp)

This introductory course is for students with no experience in Object Oriented Programming or Software Testing.  Students will learn the basic concepts of OOP and theory behind Black Box Testing (software testing without the need for understanding code).  The course then moves on to introduce students to basic software testing techniques, functionality, operability and system compatibility.  Students are introduced to Silk Test automated testing software and will complete the introductory testing lab exercises with Silk Test and analyze results.

Contact us to learn more about our special partnerships with IT Educational institutions and our global partnerships programs.

Pre-requisites:

Good knowledge of computer operating systems such as Windows XP and software programs.  The ability to analyze problems and development solutions.  Student will learn to review requirements and design specifications for testability utilizing black box testing methodologies though both manual testing and automation tools.

Students with experience in OOP should enroll in week two and three of the Automated Software Testing boot camp.

Automated Software Testing 102 (Week 2 of the 10 day boot-camp)

Course Overview for Advance Certification in Silk Test Manager

A 10-day, on-site engagement, the Software Testing Boot Camp with advanced testing certification is valuable for anyone responsible for testing or for improving the processes used for testing. The Boot Camp is based on materials from ISO and IEEE software and systems standards and the SEI maturity models.

In small group exercises, you gain hands-on experience analyzing project quality needs and risks related to testing. You learn how to select an appropriate strategy for testing, systematically conduct testing, and report on quality and progress. You also learn how to participate in other quality processes related to testing, such as project management, release control, and requirements review.

Using your own products or a case study, you draft test plans and devise high-yield testing tactics and techniques for testing the software. You review templates for test procedures, test cases, and test results. You also learn how to track and manage testing activities and defects. Class discussion and exercises provide the opportunity to tailor techniques and work products to suit organization or project needs.

Throughout the course, instructors review testing best practices, enabling you to understand how different roles in the development organization—analysts, architects, developers, and project managers—contribute to reducing product risk. After completing this Boot Camp, you will be able to identify organizational testing strategies, and develop, apply, and manage testing assets to maximize the value of testing for each project.

The first week of this course is designed for beginners in software testing.  Those students with a firm understanding of OOP should take the last 2 weeks of the course for Master Certification in Silk Performer.

QA Engineer 103

For Master Certification in Silk Performer – Load testing (optional Week 3 for Master Testers)

Course Pre-requisites

Awareness of functional and load testing concepts Experience using Silk Test or Silk Test Manager, BDL scripting language and the ability to manage BDL verification and parsing functions. Experience using the parameter wizard and implementing project attributes. A familiarity with SAP environments and the SAP GUI Client is required. Pre-requisites will be satisfied with the completion of the Silk Test Manager boot camp.

Boot Camp participants have the option of becoming Master Testing by participation in this highly accelerated week of training with Silk Performer.  This course requires a good understanding of Silk Test.  Participant that already have some experience in Testing my opt to attend the last two weeks of the course and receive to certificate as Advanced Testing with Silk Test Manager and Master Certification in Silk Performer. This enterprise-class tool for software application performance and load testing, delivering automated software load, stress and performance testing in an open and sharable model. With Silk Performer, you can create powerful, realistic load tests for thousands of users running business scenarios across a broad range of enterprise application environments to identify bottlenecks, and then apply powerful diagnostics to resolve performance issues. A visual approach to test creation, root-cause analysis wizards and Java & .NET deep diagnostics make it amazingly simple and efficient to use, removing the cost and complexity associated with other enterprise load testing tools that restrict usage to one or, at most, several projects or teams.
